Today, myself and my group member Becca, created an idea for a game. We were to come up with an original idea for a game and we have chosen to create one whereby you use your mind and have to act very quickyly. So in doing so, you are essentialy training your mind whilst getting exercise. its is marine themed.
Our idea is based around Whales and bubbles. So, its a room that we would disgusie as a giant whale and by doing this, we would have the game players (which will be 6) walk through the mouth of a whale into a large dark room. The players would stand in the middle of the room in a line facing towards the front wall. The game wuill then begin. Our game is in 3D, so the game would pop up and each player is given a certyain colour, different to the rest. Bubbles pop up and the players are given 1 minute to pop as many bubbles they can with their hands running around the room. After each minute is up, the game goes onto the next level, so the player who has popped the least bubbles has to leave the game. There are 6 levels, so the game lasts around 6 minutes.
Once the game progresses, the leevls get harder but still lasting a minute eachg but with more bubbles.
Eventually on level 6, there will be the last 2 players left. This level is the hardest so as it is 3D, things l;ike fish begin top be 'thrown' out towards the players to put them off. Once the miunte is over, the game has been pkayed. the player with who has popped the most bubbles has won, and therefore the looser leaves, and the reward is that air comes from the floor lifting up the winning player, making them float in mid air for 1 minute.
GAME OVER!!!!

Our 2 Minute film has begun...
After a few weeks jotting out all the pre production, this week on Wednesday we were finally able to begin filming.
Production and filming are the two main areas I enjoy most and would love to specialise in in the future so this is particularly my favourite module so far. James (a member of my group) picked up the filming equipment that morning but plans didn't go well straight away... Theat night before, we all went out for a couple of sociable drinks (getting to know each other more on the course ect) and hey, a couple of drinks turned into a few more drinks and by the time you knew it, you'd burnt a whole in your purse...
So anyway instead of filming first thing that morning, we began a tiny bit later at 11am.
As we have to have a rough finished film in a couple of weeks, we decided to take this day to film the opening and interior scenes, and use next Monday's uni session to film the exterior scenes.
Filming went according to plan and was also a bit of a laugh as there are some people who have not yet used a camera before in the group. Having said this, we all still stuck to a strict schedule and storyboarding.
We are aiming to get our film completely shot by this coming Monday so that we then have enough time to really focus in the edit..
wish me luck :)

Film Analysis...
Throughout reading week, our work to do for film studies is a film analysis using a template where we are to describe the shot, cinematography, voice and sound and music of a particular scene from a film.
We were given the choice to analyse 3-5 minutes of any film of our choice. I thought this was a bit vague to begin with, but once i knuckled down I found it very interesting because when watching a film, you normally never stop and start a scene and literally focus on exactly whats going on..
My first choice of film was Baz Lurhman's Romeo and Juliet. This is one of my favourite films, and having watched it rather a few times, I knew exactly the scenes in which I'd like to analyse. However, once I began my analysis for this, I found it too easy. I thought to myself that there really isn't that much going on that makes you want to really look into a scene. I mean, its extremely well shot, and the narrative to it is good, however the cinematography isn't complex enough.
I then decided upon another favourite film of mine, Donnie Darko.
Now this film is very strange, the narrative to it is almost backwards and its all to do with the concept of time. You have to defiantly watch this film a second time to really grasp whats going on. Its so in depth and breaks a lot of rules in filming. I feel that this film is shot beautifully what with the use of lighting and cinematography. My favourite scene that I did in fact analyse is a scene in which Donnie, his on screen girlfriend Gretchin and Frank (the huge rabbit) are sat in the cinema and Frank shows Donnie a portal to time travel. I picked this scene as the sue of camera shots make it dream like. its dark, and intense. The scene was 4 minutes long.
below is a photo taken from the scene I analysed:
Monday 14th November...
So today we continued with our production for our short film, People on The Move. Our groups idea is to film a groom who awakens late for his wedding after a heavy party with friends, hungover and a little delirious. Basically it is about him getting from waking up in the boring of his wedding in this state, then quickly getting dressed and running down to his wedding, once he arrives there, he will be at the wrong place. in between him rushing to get to the wedding things will go wrong for example, his tie will be on wrong, he may have a pair of shoes on that don't match, toothpaste down his suit ect. the twist is, at the end of the film, he will have arrived at the wrong venue which will be the catholic cathedral only to then realise his wedding is actually at the opposite cathedral which you will see in the shot behind him in the distance... so the film is quite humorous as apposed to being serious.
We got into our groups where at this point, we began talking about when it is we are going to begin filming we all agreed that Wednesday of this week is going to be the first day of filming. we began jotting down what props we will need to buy for example, party poppers, blow up dolls ect. We then scheduled a time of meeting for filming which will be wednesday at 11am. I booked out the equipment for the filming and have also got together some location forms to sign and risk assessments which we will do on the day.
I'm extremely exited to begin filming as this is what I aspire to do as a career. Hopefully everything will go to plan.
SO BRING ON WEDNESDAY!!! ..... updates to come......
